Ribena Picovoli

Pattern: Picovoli by Grumperina
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cathay colour 12012, from Webs
Needles: Addi circulars 3.5 mm, 40 cm and 60 cm from The Knitting and Crochet Guild
Modifications: an inch added to the bottom, for decent coverage. You can see where I joined the yarn for the extra inch really well in the picture above. I've never knit with cotton before and as I couldn't splice the ends I just knit with the two together for a little way, but the meetings are really visible, particularly since I've darned in the ends. If anyone has suggestions for good ways to join cotton yarn, please comment! Other than that, I've no complaints at all. I loved knitting this, and am looking forward to my next one. I'm thinking of adding a placket, and maybe a little collar. Please pass the grey fluffy yarn.

I wanted to take a picture a bit like Anna's, to demonstrate the similarity between the colour of the yarn and the label on the Ribena bottle, and show off my excellent drinking skills, but my camera took this picture just as I was sitting down and promptly passed out, so an action shot it is. You get a good glimpse of the top of my head anyway, and a vague idea of what I'm talking about.

It's probably time I learned to use the timer on my camera properly.

Yay! It looks great--that is such a flattering sweater. And the (actual) Ribena is clearly worth the investment :)

Love the sweater! It looks fabulous on you. I've never heard of Ribena, but I will take your word for it that it is a lovely purple :)

I used to have a theory that all purple yarn smelt funny. but the stuff I'm using at the moment just smells of kool aid. I trust Ms Bliss treated the cathay well enough for it not to smell of anything untoward

Great job - the fit and color are really nice on you. Blackcurrant Ribena is my husband's favorite - he always gets some immediately upon arrival back in the UK.

Adorable! Love the color, and the second photo, too :). Let me know if you'd like it to appear in the gallery.

Hey! It looks fantastic! Really good job, and I love the color, especially with the cute scarf. I wish i had some tips for how to join cotton, but I don't...my joins are visible on my Tivoli too. :(

Well, at least your self-timer photos are in focus! Mine are always blurry, in addition to being late -- oh, maybe that's a good thing.

Looks lovely! I really like the look with the scarf. Very stylish. How are you feeling about the color? I still think the purple looks great on you. :)
(padon my ignorance but what is Ribena?)

What a beautiful color, it reminds me of grape hyacinths.

The Russian Join might be a good option for joining cotton.

A disclaimer: I've never actually tried it but I have been reading about it a lot on the web.
